The accidental theorist is quite a fun one to start with, its a collection of articles, I don't always complelty agree with the stuff but nicely explained. Just remember not take anything you read as established fact. As pointed out in freakonomics conventional 'wisdoms' can be very dangerous. The worldy philosphers (can't rember exact title but google it) is a very good history of the major economists and the trends they set. Don't bother with 'how to argue with an eocnomist', its pants.
