I (re)discovered last night, courtesy of the intriguing book Debs at War, that during World War 2 it was common for the daughters of the British upper classes to join the First Aid Nursing Yeomanry. Commonly known by its acronym, FANY.

I think play needs to be made of this fact.

Alse, [livejournal.com profile] dynix is right, Flatland is good. I have a copy if you want to borrow, although they're quite cheap to buy as it's short.

And by a staggering coincidence, I'm even now writing a play about the British upper classes shortly after World War 2! What are the odds? :-)

Well... You've only another couple of years before London will start trying to tempt you away from the spires again. Meanwhile, it's probably vaguely commutable, if you /really/ want ;)

not /that/ tempted. Anyway, my current plan involves hiding amid the spires for somewhat longer than a couple of years. Although things may (and probably will) change.
