I know I'm very late to the LOL$thing party, but what the hell:

im in ur compilur fuzin ur lazy streemz
moar allegedly funny pictures

refrnshl transparensee iz no larfin mattur
moar allegedly funny pictures

Now, I reckon about half of you will recognise the guy in the pictures, and about half will understand the captions. I'm interested to know how large the intersection is...

I'm telling on you.

The second person is a Don Quixote (I am not so sure about first photo).

But I still don't get how DQ relates to GHC.

The guy wearing the mask is a moderately well-known GHC hacker. He's also the one holding the giant teacup in the first photo.

I know the guy, or at least I know him in the first photo, whereas in the second photo although I know it is him, he does not trigger the recognition circuits in my brain...

Don't comprehend the text.

Yes, he looks odd in that second photo. I'm not too happy with either of them, to be honest - they were both taken with camera phones, but that's no excuse for the poor focus in the first one!

I declare the intersection to have at least one member.

Yes it does have at least one member... me!

I've never quite understood why I'm pozorvlak's canonical haskell hacker.

Since we're on the topic of LOL and functional programming, I presume you've seen lambda cats (http://arcanux.org/lambdacats.html).

Largely because I know you in real life :-)
Thursday, May 8th, 2008 09:47 pm (UTC)
Oh yes, if you're actually counting, I got the first one. I don't get biscuits for the second cause I couldn't even translate the first word out of lol.

"Referential". It was hard to fit the whole phrase on one line, so I had to make compromises.

Don't recognise the guy, but does it count if I understand just one of the captions?
Thursday, May 8th, 2008 06:57 pm (UTC)
Yeah, that counts.

You know him at one remove, no doubt in multiple ways. The tags on this post should be a hint :-)

+1 from me :)

Suddenly the lol I made for my stage door keeper and the series of theatre lols in the process of being created: (Stage door cat haz yoor derliveries; stage door cat haz yoor radios; box office cat haz yoor tikets; I iz in yoor liting rig steelin yoor goboz) don't look very clever.

Ah, it's easy to make jokes about obscure things and sound clever. They're not very good jokes (some of the lambdacats ones linked to above are much better).

How about one of the Phantom of the Opera, saying "i am in ur theatur killin all ur sopranos"? Or Hamlet, holding up Yorick's skull, and saying "O hai! I got u a hed, but I etted it." :-)
Friday, May 9th, 2008 02:15 pm (UTC)
I might have to try the Hamlet :)

I was amused by the captions, but I don't know the people. (I guess I know something about them *now* though. ::Grin::)
