Useful Pun

I (re)discovered last night, courtesy of the intriguing book Debs at War, that during World War 2 it was common for the daughters of the British upper classes to join the First Aid Nursing Yeomanry. Commonly known by its acronym, FANY.

I think play needs to be made of this fact.

random thing - you've read this, right?

Flatland
A romance of many dimensions
Edwin A. Abbott's classic tale of interdimensional experience.

Yep. It's great, isn't it? :-)

Dammit. If I still lived in the M25, I'd be so tempted to join...

Alse, [livejournal.com profile] dynix is right, Flatland is good. I have a copy if you want to borrow, although they're quite cheap to buy as it's short.

Well... You've only another couple of years before London will start trying to tempt you away from the spires again. Meanwhile, it's probably vaguely commutable, if you /really/ want ;)

not /that/ tempted. Anyway, my current plan involves hiding amid the spires for somewhat longer than a couple of years. Although things may (and probably will) change.

Perhaps even a play?

And by a staggering coincidence, I'm even now writing a play about the British upper classes shortly after World War 2! What are the odds? :-)
