I'd like to draw your attention to the following interwebular offerings:
Firstly, my old friend Rob Colvile's new blog, The Why of the World. As he puts it: "the basic idea is to look at news stories and put them in an wider economic/demographic/international relations perspective, Freakonomics style." Yes, it's the Torygraph, but don't let that put you off - he describes himself as a "small-state liberal", he's one of the brightest people I know, and he seems to really know his stuff.
Secondly,
wormwood_pearl's recent scathingly funny review of the early Nineties public information film Don't Copy That Floppy. Read, laugh, leave nice comments so she writes more.
Thirdly, Limeproject.org, who are selling pinup calendars to raise money for
yourhermione's cancer drugs, Calendar-girls stylee (but with better-looking women). They're down to less than 50 calendars to go and less than $1000 to raise to meet their targets. I've got mine, and very good it is too.
