This morning, I was unable to avoid learning that all four UK teams have failed to qualify for Euro 2008.

How terribly sad.

Fortunately, I managed to stop giving a toss the day before the Scotland-Italy match.

Look, I don't leave snooty posts about rugby...

Rugby's easier to avoid, though.

Hahahaha. Aaaah, that makes me happy.

You do realise though that they're talking about having an internal UK tournament of some description as no one got through.

So sadly the football will not be gone from our lives :(

Fecksocks!

There's nothing for it, I'll have to emigrate to Canada. At least hockey talk will be slightly exotic.

You think you have it difficult?

Here, not only do they avidly follow the Moroccan League like it's the only thing worth conversing about, but they also follow the pan-african league, and the Moroccan *sand football* league.

And, what's even worse, everybody here is either a Barcelona or a Real Madrid supporter. To the point where I'm more likely to see a kid wearing Barça or Madrid kit on the street than any other team. Hell, they follow the spanish league more avidly than the spanish themselves, I suspect.

To top it all off, the vast majority of these people follow it whilst teetotal. So they really have *no* excuse.

I've manged to find salons de thé where it's muted and in the backgound on match nights, thank Allah.

Ha ha ha. If you think hockey talk will be remotely interesting either, think again...

I love early morning football related schadenfreude. Almost makes up for the English rugby team's freakish regain of form during the RWC
