I have submitted my thesis.

I keep expecting to wake up, or to spot some glaring error in it. Bizarrely, it actually helped when [livejournal.com profile] wormwood_pearl joked that I'd missed a typo on page 73, and I looked and noticed that there was indeed a piece of notation I wasn't too happy with and had been meaning to fix on that page. But it's nothing important.

I will be in the postgrad club from about 1630 onwards getting drunk: you are all invited.

The stats, for the curious:

My paper was rejected. Not enough new material, and I'd failed to cite related work.

As well as being annoying, this is worrying: the paper contained almost all the new material that's in my thesis, strongly suggesting that my thesis doesn't contain enough new material either.

Bugger.

On the upside, the reviewer suggested some possible applications and further work: if I could do that, maybe that would be enough.
