Whew! The Scottish Juggling Convention is over. About 120 people turned up in the end, which I think is a record, and as far as I can tell everyone had a good time - the worst complaints I've had were that we left a couple of games out of the Juggling Olympics at the end. New records were set for 3-, 5- and 6-haggis juggling. The show was awesome, but I can't take any credit for that. Here's a wee video which some visiting press person took:

That's [livejournal.com profile] azrelle, my co-organiser, being interviewed: I was far too busy for any of that malarkey ;-) The guy balancing the ring on his head is the stunningly brilliant Sean Blue. Arm curl while spinning three balls on his fingers? Why yes, yes he can.

More to come soon - I'd written out an HLCGB last night, but Firefox crashed taking all my carefully-crafted text with it :-(

Why, in this day and age, does it take two working days and £27 to send a few hundred dollars from Britain to the US?

Feb 2nd 2008
Bellahouston Academy
6pm
Tickets £5 adults, £3 kids under 7
Part of the Scottish Juggling Convention: http://scottishjuggling.info

Anyone who would like to be entertained by the world's top juggling talent on 2nd February 2008 for the princely sum of £5 get in touch with me (ladislav at samur41 dot org dot uk) or [livejournal.com profile] azrelle. It's at Bellahouston Academy from about 6pm in the evening onwards with acts you will likely never get a chance to see outside of the convention circuit. It's an audience of entertainers being entertained.... the standard is that high.

We're not really a kids show, but you can bring them if you like. I cannot guarantee that all the material is suitable for the little darlings though. Kids under 7 are £3.

We have juggling, hula-hooping, acrobatics, glow, comedy, poi and much more included under the umbrella of a juggling convention.

Due to the terms of our lease on the hall we cannot sell tickets on the door. If you want to come you really do need to let me know in advance so that I at least have your name on the list.

Your ticket also entitles you to come join us after the show for a ceilidh and light supper back in our evening hall a short walk away at Kinning Park.

Pre-registration for the Scottish Juggling Convention '08 (which is being organised by me and [livejournal.com profile] azrelle) is now open! The convention will run from the evening of Friday 1st February to Sunday 3rd February in Glasgow. We're in Kinning Park Complex for the nights again, but we've moved to Bellahouston Academy for the day venue. This means that this year there will be showers :-)

Your £26 (£17 for 7-17 year olds; free for under-7s) gets you entry to the convention, crash space, breakfast and dinner, tea and coffee, a ceilidh, haggis juggling, and entry to the spectacular International Public Show, featuring1 Luke Wilson, Meghan Pike, Wes Peden, Matt Hall, the uninominal Doc, Tom Derrick, Marco Bonisimo and Jeroen Regtien, Sean Blue, Sarah Bi[sz]kup, and others to be confirmed. If you have no idea who I'm talking about, have a search through IJDB's video database for their names and prepare to be amazed - these are world-class performers. If you've never been to a juggling convention before, this should give you some idea of what to expect, but note that we won't be having a parade, and you don't need to bring a tent to the SJC - bring a sleeping bag and a roll-mat, though.

To pre-register, please fill out this form: http://www.scottishjuggling.info/prereg.txt
and send it to
944 Maryhill Road

Cheques payable to "Glasgow Juggling Club Convention", please, or we can't pay them in!

More information at http://www.scottishjuggling.info. Any queries, please drop me or Azrelle a line.

Hoping to see lots of you there!
